FAQS
What are the benefits of using drones in agriculture?
There are many benefits to using drones in agriculture, including improved safety, plus time and cost savings. For more information, visit our services page.
Is it legal?
Yes. We operate in full compliance with UK law and regulatory bodies including the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority), CRD (Chemicals Regulation Division) and HSE (Health and Safety Executive).
We have a team of fully-qualified drone pilots, with their GVC certificates.
UK legislation allows for drones to be used in surveying and mapping, which helps with crop health monitoring and disease protection. Plus, crop spraying, fertilising and seeding. Drones can also be used for greenhouse shading and solar cleaning.
How does the UK weather affect drone usage?
Our drones can make it easier to work with the UK weather. For example, our drones can access areas which may be inaccessible to heavy machinery or ground-sprayers due to waterlog or obstructions following adverse weather events.
What drones do you use?
We use advanced XAG P100 drones, powered by AI to maximise efficiency and safety in agricultural operations. Equipped with state-of-the-art sensors, these drones detect obstacles, measure wind speed, and assess terrain gradients, allowing us to plan the most efficient flight paths.
How much product can your drones carry?
Our drones have a 51 Litre liquid tank capacity and an 80 Litre grain hopper tank capacity, with a three to seven metre spray width. This produces a maximum discharge rate of 150 kg per minute when seeding and fertiliser spreading, or a 22 Litre per minute pump rate for liquids.
What are the environmental impacts of using drones in agriculture?
Drones are seen as part of the future of sustainable agriculture. Unlike heavy machinery and manual methods, they limit soil erosion, do not produce emissions and allow for a more targeted application of spraying that helps to reduce the amount of chemicals being used.
Can drones be used for pesticides?
In 2023 the UK Government clarified that drones can be used to spray pesticides within the legal definition of aerial spraying. We have the necessary permits to use our drones in this way.
Where are your drone services available?
We are able to provide our drone services anywhere in the UK.
How much does it cost?
Our pricing packages are worked out depending on task type, size and complexity. Email info@drone-logistics.co.uk for a quote and more information.
Do you offer additional services to those that are listed?
Yes, we can offer additional services as long as they are compliant with current UK legislation. We are excited to discover new ways which drones can be used to save time, improve safety and create solutions. Email info@drone-logistics.co.uk to see if we can help you.
